Preparing to make an omelet, I dropped pats of butter into the warm pan, only to be forgotten while attending to the foundation of my concoction, the eggs. Cracking, whisking, and seasoning my attempt at breakfast, I returned to the gentle melting of the butter and behold...this lovely cross!

A Car With A View

After asking my husband for a random topic to write about, he curtly answered with “convertible cars”. An interesting topic on a rainy day while absorbed in his Sunday ritual of watching football on the screen. What would conjure up the notion of riding with the top down on such a gray day filled with tackles and touchdowns? One might say the lack of sun creates dreams of sun-streaked skies, however, we live in Florida and the occasional cloudy downpour is welcomed as a reprieve. In fact, there are days we close all the blinds in the house to briefly escape the bright sunny rays of our endless summers. Convertible cars. Hmmmmm, maybe it’s a season of life. With one son off at college and another son juggling school, work, and friends, we find ourselves home alone thinking of our next adventures. Jet skis and kayaks all within the foreseeable future when our teenagers’ cars and college expenses have come to an end. It will then be on to our next phase of life - jet skiing, kayaking…and a car with a view. Convertible cars.

Scenes From the Front Porch

The gentle rains of spring smell sweet from a cozy adirondack chair on an antiquated front porch. Yellow jonquils beckon for the warm sun and greet the neighbors with shiny smiles. Frosted glasses of lemonade elude to the breezy days of summer. As the warm days approach, baskets appear with blooming impatiens and children romp through the yards in playful games. As the sun sets earlier each day, the cool days of fall appear with pots of brazen mums and the trees golden leaves drift to the ground. The children return to tumble in the lawns, landing in heaps of fallen leaves. When the leaves begin to disappear, a swept lawn waits for the big chill and layers of fresh fluffy snow. Sleds glide past with passengers of young and old. Signs of the holidays sprinkle and shine upon the eaves of the antiquated front porch...and the neighbors reminisce of the days past...enjoying the close-knit family of friends!

Superflux is Superfly!

Superflux! With a little "smoooooth" attitude this word just rolls off my tongue and begs to be said over and over again! That is, when I need to add a little superfly humor into my sometimes stressful day!

When I think of the word super I imagine something being a step above the ordinary, or in excess of the ordinary. The word flux brings to mind a flowing movement, a continuous change. Put those two words together and it makes for a superfly description of what occurs in my daily life. Whether it's work or leisure, I seem to experience a superflux of enjoyment when I can embrace the constant and sometimes excessive change that occurs in my life. This may seem a little superfluous in thought, after all, I may not be experiencing an abundance of joy but at least a smile blooms on my otherwise haggard day when I apply this glorious wordage...superflux! From complex business decisions to simple compounding chores, the process of getting things done goes a little "smooooother" when I can embrace these tides of change. So, I offer the idea of adding "superflux" to your vocabulary! Or, at least let it roll around in your mind like a colorful marble on a rather bumpy ride. Superflux is superfly!

Job Titles for the SAHM!

Stay-at-home mom and homemaker are simple (self-explanatory) titles used to describe the moms that choose to and are able to stay at home raising their children. They may be simple titles, however, in my opinion, they describe the role perfectly! I am proud to answer that often asked question, “What do you do?”, by simply stating that I’m a stay-at-home mom. I am proud to fill in the employment section of any form with “homemaker”. But, there are many other subtitles that can be included. For instance, Domestic Engineer, Director of Activities, Healthcare Provider, Counselor, Culinary Chef, Travel Agent and Historian!
